Fundraising Tips

The HPD Moonlight Classic Bike Ride is a fundraising event for the Houston Police Foundation. Below you'll find information on tax receipts, common fundraising questions, and how to capitalize on matching gift programs.
 
We encourage all entrants to raise money by Collecting Pledges!
 
Fundraising Prizes
Donations and pledges of any amount are welcome.  Riders who raise $250 or more will be eligible for fundraising prizes.  For every $250 you collect, your name will be placed in a drawing for great prizes.  Your pledge money must be received by the Houston Police Foundation no later than July 31, 2008 for prize eligibility. 
 
Grand Prize:  The top fundraiser will receive (4) Diamond seat tickets to Houston Astros game, One night stay at The Inn on the Ballpark and $100 gift certificate to Vic and Anthony's steakhouse.
 
(Other great prizes):
   Two roundtrip airline tickets to anywhere in the Continental United States.
   Weekend stay for two at The Golden Nugget in Las Vegas.
   Tickets to a 2008 Houston Astros Game.
   $100 Gift Certificate to Vic and Anthony's Steakhouse.
   Four club level tickets to 2009 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
   Gift cards to restaurants, hotels, etc.

  2. To whom should checks be made payable? Checks should be made payable to the Houston Police Foundation.
  3. Where should I mail my fundraising checks and matching gift forms? (Please do not mail cash!) Houston Police Foundation, PO Box 346 Houston, TX 77001-0346
  4. Is it safe to mail in cash? It is not safe to mail in cash. If you wish to submit a cash donation, please bring it to our offices at 1200 Travis, 16th Floor.
  5. Pledge Deadline - July 31, 2008 to be eligible for prizes.

Your participation in the 2008 HPD Moonlight Classic Bike Ride is the first step towards supporting the Houston Police Department.  Next is raising pledge dollars.  Fundraise online by clicking here or download the pledge form and send to friends, family and coworkers.
 
Even beginners find pledge collection easy - JUST ASK! 
      Start asking for pledges early.
      Keep pledge sheet with you at all times.
      You can accept credit cards:  Visa, MasterCard and American Express.
      Set a goal and tell people what it is. 
      Research your company's matching gifts program.  You can double your money.
      Remember to thank everyone that helps you reach your goal.

Matching Gifts

Does your company have a matching gift program? Please use the following information to help make our matching program a success!

Please read carefully the guidelines of your employer's matching gift program. Many companies only match donations given to educational institutions or arts and culture organizations, etc.   Also, check to see if your company only matches your individual donations. Several companies only match checks/cash from the employee and will not match all pledges turned in by the employee. Many companies also have a minimum amount that you must donate before they match such as $25.00.  Please do not send in forms that cannot be processed.

Please include the name of the rider or their account number somewhere on the form. This will enable quicker processing.

Don't forget to sign the form! It is an easy step to miss. Also, please fill out the form completely with address and phone number information in case there are any questions about the form.

Please turn in the form at the same time the donation/pledge is turned in. This makes processing faster as well.
