John L. Nau, III is President and Chief Executive Officer of Silver Eagle Distributors, L.P., the nation’s largest distributor of Anheuser-Busch products.  Silver Eagle employs over 1,100 employees that serve 16 counties in Texas through operations in Houston, San Antonio, Conroe, Cypress and Rosenberg. Silver Eagle also distributes Grupo Modelo beers.

Since 1995, Mr. Nau has served as Chairman of the Texas Historical Commission (THC). He was appointed to the THC in 1993, and is now serving his third term. In 2001, he was appointed by President George W. Bush to a four-year term as Chairman of the national Advisory Council on Historic Preservation and was reappointed in 2006.

Nau’s commitment to service is apparent through a broad spectrum of participation in civic, community, and philanthropic organizations in Houston and throughout the country. His involvement includes Board of Trustees of Baylor College of Medicine, Greater Houston Partnership, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Civil War Preservation Trust, Board Member of the Texas State History Museum Foundation, Greater Houston Preservation Alliance Advisory Board, the Board of Directors of the Good Samaritan Foundation, and the Board of Advisors of the Gulf Coast Institute.

Nau is a 1968 graduate of the University of Virginia, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History. He is the past president of the College Foundation of the University and Vice Chairman of the UVA Capital Campaign. He has also served as Chairman of the College of Arts and Sciences Campaign and on the Board of Managers of the Alumni Association.

He and his wife, Bobbie, reside in Houston. Their family includes two daughters, Victoria Nau Johnson and husband Parks, Elizabeth Nau Stepanian and husband Andy, and two grandchildren, Katharine and Reese Stepanian.
