James A. Elkins, III

James A. Elkins was born in Houston, Texas. He received his B.A. in Economics from Princeton University and his M.B.A in Finance from the University of Texas.
Currently Mr. Elkins is Chairman of the Houston Trust Company. He has previously worked with Morgan Guaranty Trust Company and First City National Bank of Houston.
Mr. Elkins is active in many professional, civic, and philanthropic organizations. He has been or is currently involved with the Texas Bankers Association, Texas Business Hall of Fame, Robert Morris Associates, Louisiana Bankers Association, Independent Bankers Association of Texas and American Bankers Association. Mr. Elkins is currently an Advisory Director for the Baylor College of Medicine, on the Board of Directors for the Children’s Museum of Houston, on the Board of Trustees and President’s Council for the Houston Museum of Natural Science, the Board of Directors for the Houston Parks Board. He serves on the Board of Trustees for the Houston Zoo, the Board of Directors for Methodist Hospital. He is involved with the Retina Research Foundation, St. John’s School, Salvation Army, Texas Children’s Hospital, Trees for Houston, and the University of Texas-Health Sciences Center. Mr. Elkins is on Administrative Board at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and serves as a Trustee for both the Vivian L. Smith Foundation and the Wortham Foundation.
